The perfect counterbalance to a modern ‘throwaway’ culture

At Mkira, we design and create homeware with love and care. We are proud to bring you a range of homeware products with permanence, items that are designed and built to last, not go out of fashion. By teaming up with small, authentic, family-run businesses using traditional methods, we are able to quietly but expertly craft beautiful enduring pieces.

Designed by Charlotte England

Charlotte England is the creator of Mkira. After a degree in art, work took her to all corners of the globe. Even while teaching or working at sea, Charlotte was always looking to find an outlet for her desire to create. From studying pottery in Japan with a renowned sensei, traditional paper making in the Japanese mountains, basket weaving among the Tepuis in the Amazonian basin to life-drawing in Miami, Charlotte has had a wide range of inspiring experiences that have shaped her personal style and design objectives.

Inspired by the land and seascape around us

All our life experiences form our design style. Having grown up in the Purbecks of south Dorset, Charlotte spent her days on and by the sea or exploring the surrounding countryside, drawn to nature’s palette, always wanting to bring treasures home. Today she still yearns to bring nature’s gems into the home and is passionate about creating an authentic range of homeware, bringing the many influences from her travels into her designs. Combining modern day manufacturing with traditional weaving and printing to produce a carefully curated, beautiful collection.
